Recognizing the familiar

When a familiar response takes over

You agree before checking what you want. You push through discomfort until you have little left. You pull away when you want connection. Or you notice yourself bracing before anything has happened.

You may feel stuck without knowing exactly how to describe it. You may understand a pattern clearly and still find yourself repeating it.

These experiences can have different histories and circumstances. We begin by exploring how they show up for you, and where there may be room for another response.

Embodied learning

Begin with what you can feel

A familiar response can involve movement, sensation, emotion, and thought. In this immersion, we bring attention to how those parts of your experience work together.

The Feldenkrais® Method gives us a practical way to explore. In small, slow movements, you notice how you use effort, where you find support, and what happens when you try a variation. You have something to experience and compare.

Some ways of bracing, withdrawing, pleasing, or pushing through may have helped you meet difficult circumstances. We approach them with curiosity and respect, and explore whether another response is available now.

Movement provides a place to begin. Guided reflection helps you investigate what that learning might mean in a conversation, a decision, or the way you meet your day. That connection develops through exploration and practice.

What you will practice

  • Notice how you hold and move your body, and explore where less effort is possible.
  • Recognize sensations, emotions, and thoughts without immediately treating them as the same thing.
  • Explore staying in contact with a difficult feeling at a pace you can meet.
  • Notice your own needs and limits before moving into a familiar response.
  • Make room for support, pleasure, and connection, and notice what happens when you do.
  • Practice alternatives and discover which become useful in everyday life.

The four pillars

The whole of you takes part

The immersion brings four dimensions of experience into conversation. Each offers a different way to notice what is happening and explore what could change.

01

Body based

Notice how you organize movement, effort, and support. Explore alternatives through direct experience.

02

Emotionally aware

Recognize what you feel and explore staying in contact with it at a manageable pace, including pleasure, connection, and possibility.

03

Mentally intentional

Investigate the thoughts and beliefs that accompany familiar responses, and how they influence what feels possible.

04

Spiritually open

Explore meaning, connection, intuition, and trust, with room for your own beliefs and questions. No particular belief is required, and you are welcome to bring your existing spiritual practice.

The immersion experience

Live guidance and time to make it your own

We meet as a group each week, with a lesson to return to between sessions. I guide the movement, invite you to notice your experience, and make room for questions. Your individual session gives us time to adapt the work to you.

One individual session

Practice between meetings

A small cohort

24 participants, with smaller groups of twelve for partner work and questions. Practice partners are assigned in week two.

Materials and community

Three workbooks, one for each phase, with space to track your practice. A private community for questions, observations, and connection.

A year inside ONE

Continued practice after the immersion, including live sessions twice a month, the library, and community.

Each return gives you something to notice

One lesson can introduce an unfamiliar experience. Returning to it gives you time to notice more, experiment, and discover what becomes useful outside the session.

You’ll revisit the week’s lesson before moving on. This shared rhythm lets the learning build while giving you room to make it personal.

Our commitment to the process

At enrollment, you’ll sign a short participation agreement. Please attend live or watch each recording before the next meeting, set aside the full hour for each session, and stay in communication with the community.

You do not need to share deeply personal experiences. Your observations and questions are welcome. If keeping up becomes difficult, please let me know.

“Grateful for Dayana — her voice, her skill, her listening, her knowledge and talent. She has a keen way of gentle-ing (my word) one through the obstacles, the questions, the confusion, the muck and all the stickiness in-between so you can see your diamonds. … Just the glimpse of and felt sense of my mind-body connection is worth far more than the price of admission.”

“I have been working with Dayana for close to 8 years, both receiving Feldenkrais treatments and attending classes in person and online. She has helped me tremendously, with chronic pain issues, alignment, attitude. She is a very gifted healer, a wise and very loving person. I recommend her very highly.”

“Incredibly kind and helpful. I’ve done years of physical therapy without much progress, and her methods gave me the tools to heal on my own in only a few visits. Now I can exercise without fear of injury!”

Your guide

Dayana Pereira

Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner · Reiki Master · Somatic educator · Founder of ONE

I found the Feldenkrais Method in Uruguay when I was twenty. It changed how I understood the body: something capable of learning, adapting, and discovering new ways to move and respond.

That understanding has shaped fifteen years of work with clients. It also shapes how I meet my own life.

I’m an immigrant. I’ve been through divorce, moves, and raising two young children while building a practice. Those years made this work deeply personal. I still meet my own habits of contraction and effort. Receiving support is something I continue to practice.

I created this immersion to offer a sustained way to learn together, with individual attention and a group to share the process. I bring my training and experience, and a practice I continue to live myself.

Who this is for

Is this familiar to you?

  • You understand a familiar pattern but find it difficult to respond differently in the moment.
  • You feel stuck or constrained in your body, your reactions, or the way you meet other people’s needs.
  • You feel anxious or depleted and want to understand how you respond to what life asks of you.
  • Tension returns, and you are curious about exploring how you move and use effort.
  • You want a closer relationship with your emotions, your needs, and your capacity to receive support.
  • You want your inner or spiritual work to become more connected to everyday experience.

You can begin with curiosity. Previous experience with Feldenkrais or somatic practice is not required.

Practical questions

Before you enroll

What if I cannot attend every session?

Each session is recorded and posted the same day. Please watch it before our next meeting so you can continue with the group. Set aside the full hour, including the reflection at the end.

What do I need at home?

A Zoom connection and a comfortable place to lie down with room to move your arms. The movements are small and exploratory. You do not need to be flexible, and I will not ask you to push through pain.

Is this therapy or treatment?

This is somatic education: learning through movement, perception, and awareness. I do not diagnose or treat medical or mental health conditions. If you are in acute crisis, clinical support is the appropriate starting point.

Difficult circumstances can require practical changes and outside support. This immersion offers a place to explore your responses; it does not promise to resolve those circumstances.

How does trauma awareness shape the work?

My additional training in trauma healing informs how I guide and pace the work. We pay attention to your capacity and avoid forcing an experience. The immersion can sit alongside therapy, but it does not replace it.

Can I join if I have pain or an injury?

Every person’s experience is different. We explore movement and effort without pushing into pain. If you are unsure whether the format suits your needs, contact me before enrolling. I cannot promise a particular change in pain.

Do I need a spiritual practice?

No. There is room to explore meaning, connection, and trust in ways that fit your beliefs. You are welcome whether or not you have an existing spiritual practice.

What if meditation or another practice feels overwhelming?

Let me know. We can pay attention to how much you engage with at a time and use your experience to guide the pace. You do not need to force yourself through an uncomfortable practice to participate.

Why is ONE included?

Your year inside ONE gives you a place to keep practicing after the immersion, with live sessions twice a month, a library, and community. You can continue exploring at your own pace with ongoing opportunities to practice together.

What if I am already a ONE member?

Your ONE membership is extended for twelve months from the day you enroll in Freedom Is Learned. You will not pay your regular monthly ONE membership fee during that included year.

Still considering whether this fits?

You are welcome to contact me with questions about the format or whether this is the right place to begin.

Ask Dayana a question

More ways to meet your life

Freedom can begin in a small moment: noticing what you are doing, feeling an alternative, and having a little more room to choose.

That choice may be to pause, speak, move, receive support, or take a step toward something that matters to you. The immersion gives us time to explore these possibilities through the body and practice bringing them into daily life.

If you’re ready for that exploration, I’d love to work with you.
